Welcome friends! Today we’re continuing our Decorate with Us Halloween Series. Tammy of Patina and Paint and I are sharing ideas and how we decorated our mantle for Halloween. Let’s get into it!

fall mantle post, mantles are the focal point of a room, so it’s important that they look the best that they can. Many of us long to have a fireplace and mantle, but we don’t have one in our home. What are we to do, especially when they look so amazing decorated for seasons and holidays? Well, create your own “mantle!”
You can do that by hanging a shelf, like my friend Teresa of Through a Vintage Door, or using a table like I do. We hung our TV on the wall and hid all of the cords in this post. It’s so easy, takes less than 2 hours, and you don’t need a special tool! It’s a must-do if you’d like to have a faux mantle for Halloween that’s free of ugly wires and cables!
Let me show you how I used my Halloween decor on my “mantle” this year!
Halloween Bats
Coming out of the right side of my Halloween mantle and up the wall next to the TV, I placed bats in various shapes and shades of black. To keep the paint safe, I used painter’s tape to tape them to the wall. I have another set of them somewhere, so when I find them, I think I’ll add a few more.

Top of My Halloween Mantle
First, I placed a Halloween mantle scarf on top of my sofa table/faux mantle. It came in a pack of 3 from Amazon with a table runner and what they call a lamp shade scarf, but I would use it as another table runner.
On the left side of my faux Halloween mantle I placed two raven candlesticks (you’ll notice a little Edgar Allen Poe theme going here) and a Dollar Tree skull between them. The larger one comes from Michael’s and the smaller is from Dollar Tree. The candles on top are actual wax, but they’re battery operated. You can’t see in the photos, but there is a bat on the large one and a jack-o-lantern on the smaller one.
In the center you can see two of my Halloween houses and there’s one on the other side of the faux Halloween books. They are from Dollar Tree and just spray painted matte black.
On the left side of my faux Halloween mantle I have a white pumpkin topped with a skull bow, a skull lantern from Michael’s, and a glass skull from Dollar Tree (another theme?). You can see the bats coming from behind the lantern which is why I started them at the tabletop.
On the front of the table, I hung a bat and skull berry garland from Michael’s using two sideways Command hooks.
Lower Shelf
With the top of my Halloween faux mantle complete, it was time to start on the bottom. I mentioned in my fall mantle post that it’s always hard for me, but, thankfully, it wasn’t quite as hard this time!
I left a basket full of blankets and draped a tan blanket over the edge (my black one hasn’t come in yet, sigh), then filled it with fabric and an orange pillow from Target. It actually says, “Let’s snuggle and watch scary movies,” on the front, but with my Halloween mantle decor it looked best solid. I mentioned in the last post that I wish I could push the basket further to left edge, but I can’t because it needs to hide the round mount where the TV cords come out. We had a smaller table when we mounted the TV, so it was right on the left edge then. I just wanted to let my new-comers know why it has to be like that, lol! To the left of the basket, I paced some black candlesticks with black and orange candles in them.
On the right, I added a black tree to the back and a “Nevermore” decor piece in front of it. It’s from Michael’s, and I love it! The only thing I hate is that they changed the language a bit to fit in with modern-day English and took out, “Quoth the raven, ‘Nevermore.’” It says, “The raven said, ‘Nevermore.’” WHAT?! That was the best part! Iconic! Anyway-
To the right of the sign, I added a fabric canvas print of Edgar Allen Poe with a raven on his shoulder with a black velvet pumpkin in front of it. Can you tell I like Edgar? HA! I can quote Annabel Lee by heart (and yes, I promise that’s spelled right, lol). “And we loved with a love that was more than a love- I and my Annabel Lee.” I think I’ll do a Halloween free printable and share it with you on Thursday!

What do you think? I’m pleased with how it turned out since I had to send my husband to Michael’s last-minute because “I had no decor” lol! You can imagine he looked at me like I was nuts since he just carried 5 Halloween bins in the house!
