Box Full of Sunshine Idea with Free Printables

As always, I’m sharing the printables that I made for my sunshine box and sunshine jar with you for free. On this sheet are tags to use on a box and a jar as well as tags to add to a candle and a lip balm wrapper that fits Chapstick. I may add more labels later, so be sure to pin this post and come back later to see what I come up with. I’m thinking can, water bottle, and candy bar labels.

Cut Printables & Attach to Items

This sunshine box and the jars will be given to my son’s teachers as a first day of school gifts. He has six teachers, so I put together one box that has a little more in it for his homeroom teacher and the rest will get sunshine jars with a few snacks in it.

I had a brand-new candle that I thought would be perfect for this gift box, but since it was lavender and chamomile (which should have been yellow), it had a purple label on it only representing the lavender. I created the “sunshine candle” label to make it work for a sunshine box. You can use it on any candle, but mine was a Better Homes & Gardens brand one for reference. Cut the label, add tape to the back, and place it on your candle.

Next, if you’re adding lip balm to your sunshine box, cut out the small label and tape it on to a Chapstick lip balm. You can’t tell as easily in the photos but the background of the printables have polka dots on them.

Put Together the Sunshine Box

Now that you have all of your free printables and supplies ready, you can put your sunshine box together. Grab your bin, jar, or basket and add tissue paper to the bottom for height or inside the jar for a lining. I didn’t have a ton of yellow tissue paper, so I balled up green paper, then placed one yellow sheet over it at the bottom of the bin.

Since I didn’t have a yellow bin, and Walmart didn’t have one, I used a white bin. I thought I had yellow ribbon at home to add to it, but I didn’t. Dang!

On to plan B. I added a 2.5″ burlap ribbon around the white bin, then hot glued the gift tag to it. You can add yours to the bin or put it on a skewer to stick inside the bin with the gifts.

That’s it! Your sunshine box or jar is complete!

These sunshine boxes are great to cheer people up, to give as get well gifts, or to use as “just because” gifts.

This is one of the finished jars and the sunshine box. I lost daylight, so these photos are so dark, but these are when I first finished the gifts.
