Farmhouse Style for Spring & Easter

Sum of Their Stories. Our theme this month was “soft,” so I’m sharing a soft and fluffy spring chunky yarn wreath. I made two, and they’re super easy and plus they’re cute! Let’s get into the tutorial.

Spring Chunky Yarn Wreath Supplies:

Disclosure: I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and the Dollar Tree Affiliate Program, affiliate programs that allow me to link to the products that you can use to make this project quickly and easily. If you purchase any of these products I may receive a very small commission at no cost to you! That commission helps me continue to bring these great decor DIYs, free printables, and all of the other goodies on this site to you. Thanks so much for your support!

I got most of my supplies from Dollar Tree. You can order online, but you have to buy in bulk, which is great if you’re a crafter like I am. If you’d like to make these wreaths alone, I’ve linked Amazon products for your convivence.

Wrap the wreath form with chunky yarn.

Since today is our Sustainable Craft Challenge, I decided to reuse wreath forms that I wrapped in chunky yarn and used in the past. I used the base of the wreaths from my farmhouse style Valentine’s wreaths. If you need a full tutorial for wrapping them, head over and check out that tutorial where I give you instruction and a video tutorial.

Stain or paint the wood egg or bunny.

I used Rust-oleum weathered gray stain to paint a Dollar Tree egg and bunny. You could paint them to coordinate with the chunky yarn on your wreath if you prefer.

Embellish the wood pieces.

I used twine, ribbon, and faux lamb’s ear leaves to dress up my bunny and egg.

Make a small bow with satin ribbon. I used a 1/2″ satin ribbon. I covered the wire I used to secure the bow with twine.

Make a bow for the wreath.

We’re almost there! Use a 1.5″ to 2.5″ ribbon to make a bow. I made a four loop wreath bow. You can get the full tutorial in the video, but here are some still photos of the process.

Assemble the spring wreath.

Finally, put all of the pieces of your chunky yarn wreath together.

I hot glued the wood pieces to the bottom left side of the spring wreath and the bow to the top center. To make this project super sustainable, you can hot glue floral wire to the back of the wreath and use those to attach the bow and bunny to the wreath form.

Video Tutorial

I left the bow tutorial section (starting at 2:23) in a slower speed for those who want to learn how to make it, step by step. You can slow it down even more using the video controls.

Now hang your adorable spring chunky yarn wreath!

I think these wreaths turned out so cute. They’re now hanging from the sconces in my living room that I always hang my seasonal wreaths on.

Remember this is a blog hop, so keep reading to check out what the other ladies are sharing this month!
