Happiness is Homemade #467 – Life as a LEO Wife

in DIY Tips & Ideas

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade! I’m choosing the features for the month of February. Before we get to this week’s features, let’s check out what’s been going on here on the blog over the past few days. Be sure to head over and link up on Crafty Creators before you go! If you missed last week’s party, you can check it out here.

Tuesday it was time for our monthly Sustainable Craft Challenge, and I shared a tutorial for how to make signs without a cutting machine. The post also contains a free St. Patrick’s Day design that you can use on decor for the season. You can use it on a sign, wreath, or even on shirts or tumblers (with or without a cutting machine).

I love the way my yarn St. Patrick’s Day garland turned out! It adds just a touch of green to my living room to celebrate the season. You probably have everything you need to make it right home. If not, you can get whatever you need from Dollar Tree for $2.50!

I’ve got some more great St. Patrick’s Day, spring, and Easter ideas upcoming, along with some free printables, so make sure you don’t miss them by following me on social media and email. Enter your email address below to get an email when I add a new post, including link parties so you never forget to link up!

This Week’s Features

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade! This is Niki from over at Life as a LEO Wife, back again this week to choose the features for the month of February. I always have a difficult time choosing from all of the great posts that all of you share here on the party. Keep those spring and St. Patrick’s Day ideas coming!

Mardi Gras is Tuesday, and no matter where you live you need a king cake to celebrate! This recipe from Cindy’s Online Recipe Box looks delicious, and you can make either a cinnamon king cake or a cherry cheese one with it. My favorite is the cream cheese filling, but luckily, I can run out and get one from local stores who get them from this delicious place in our area because I am not a talented baker!

With Valentine’s Day behind us, it’s time to move on to St. Patrick’s Day and spring decor. Mary Jo over at Master”pieces” of My Life has a ton of great ideas to help you incorporate green decor into your home for St. Patrick’s Day, including beautiful tablescapes, vignettes, and DIY decorations.

The ladies over at Building Our Hive made this adorable fabric banner for St. Patrick’s Day. It looks so easy to put together. If you’re not a sewer, you could use fabric glue or even hot glue.

Beth from Creatively Beth made this adorable pot of gold under a rainbow using Dollar Tree cauldrons. They would make adorable little gifts for your child’s classroom this St. Patrick’s Day.

Speaking of classrooms, Julie from Sum of Their Stories made an adorable crocheted pencil case using granny squares. I have a ton of granny squares I made back in my teen years that would be great for this. The squares are quick and easy to make so they’re perfect for new crocheters.
