Are you already breaking out your early fall decor? These last few months of the year are my absolute favorite to decorate for, so I definitely have. I’ve started crafting and put away all of the summer coastal decor. Last night I decided that I had enough new pieces made that I could create a new fall vignette to get the ball rolling. I’m going with all new colors for early fall, and I created it with a few crafted pieces and less than $12! What’s better than a cheap and adorable fall vignette?

This year I decided to change up the color scheme, carrying it from my affordable fall tray throughout our home. Last year I used an orange and aqua theme. You can check out some of the decor I made last year with those colors, just click the photo. Of course you can use any colors you’d like in any of these DIYs. You can also use the search box in the sidebar to see all of the other things I’ve made for fall.
The colors I’m using for early fall are pink-ish purple (somewhat fuchsia?), mustard yellow, and mint. There’s also, of course, the traditional oranges and browns in the table runner that I’m using as a starting off point. I got it from Target a few years ago. They also had velvet pumpkins in the same orange, purple, and dark greens you see in the runner that I bought at the same time.
I had some Dollar Tree pumpkins, I’m sure you’ve seen them, and leaves from last year. Normally I change the pumpkins completely, but in my fall decor stash I had three in their original state and colors, and what do you know? They were the perfect color! I might have liked to change the wording on them, but that would’ve meant repainting them. They were just right in mint, mustard, and orange. Plus I was going for a quick and easy fall vignette!

I painted some of the leaves fuchsia, dark green, and mustard. Well, I had to make the fuchsia! The lovely Walmart delivery service kindly brought me two bottles of “diva pink” (so, so hot pink!) when I ordered magenta and the dark purple to add to it. They brought two bottles of one color when I ordered two different colors. Awesome. They didn’t send me a message about substitutions, so I had no choice in the matter and no way to get to the store to exchange them. But honestly, who would substitute two different purple colors ordered with two bottles of the same hot pink. Any-who- off my rant and back to the painted leaves.
I have a set of stacked books that I use in my house throughout the year. Well, I did, then we moved, and it remained in a box for a few months. Yesterday it came out of storage and got a fall themed reboot. Check out my stacked books tutorial to make your own. It has several print and/or cut files that you can use on your own set or even on other DIY decor.
I gathered up a few more items from my fall decor bins and headed out to style my tray. I placed the table runner down the center of my coffee table. A thick book, a jar candle, a tiny bale of hay, and a small glass vase were added to the tray to place items on for height. Then I moved the book set, the velvet and wood pumpkins around until I was happy with the look. Heck, I’ll probably be moving everything around until I put the autumn tray away! Finally, I added a few new Target items, an itty-bitty cutting board and two small glass pumpkins, and I added them to the tray.
Ta-da! A cheap- ahem, affordable, fall vignette!
